Enrichment Classes

Below are the Enrichment Classes offered for the third trimester of 2023-2024!

Lower Elementary (Kindergarten - 2nd Grade)

Block 1 

Intro to Mixed Martial Arts *1st and 2nd grades only*

You can expect your child to learn the basic fundamentals of mixed martial arts including blocking and self-defense as well as get in a good workout! 

Arts & Crafts

In this introduction to arts and crafts, students will complete a fun, new project each week!  Possible projects include paper bag puppets, scratch art and a paper plate animals.

PE Games

During PE Games, will have fun playing active games and keeping our bodies strong and healthy together! Be sure to wear athletic shoes on Wednesdays.

Intro to Sign Language

This class will cover an introduction to the foundational basics of Sign Language! It will be a fun and interactive way for young learners to begin to lay a foundation for learning how to communicate in Sign Language. 

Block 2

Animal Fun

A fun class where we study animals—with a special focus on farm animals! We will explore different animal names, their purposes, their feed, care and more.

STEAM Adventures

Students will get to observe, explore, and create, while engaging their critical thinking skills.   We’ll build, experiment, and have so much fun in the process!

Art

Ready to let your creativity explode? In this art class, students will create a variety of work using mixed media including drawings, paintings, holiday treasures, crafts and more! Let your imagination soar and express yourself through your art! 

Upper Elementary (3rd Grade - 5th Grade)

Block 1 

Arts & Crafts

Students will be able to express their individuality through creativity and strengthen their ability to help one another. Each project will be a one-of-a-kind masterpiece for them to feel proud of! 

Chess Club

Do you love strategy, problem solving, and playing games with friends? Join Chess Club! Each week, we will spend the beginning of class learning new skills and moves, and then practice what we have learned by pairing with similarly skilled opponents and playing chess. All skill levels welcome— we will learn together, and from each other!

Lego STEM

This class will cover the fundamentals of Lego gears and motors through different Lego builds. Students will form teams and use the concepts learned in class to build their own Lego robot and participate in a nondestructive robot war at the end of the class.

Block 2

Geography

Geography enrichment will focus on a new region of the world each week and immerse students in the similarities and differences of children just like them around the globe! Our lessons will center around the topography and terrain of each region as well as the culture and languages found there. I hope to foster a deep appreciation for the way God has created our world and the people in it! There will occasionally be a food aspect to our lessons so please let me know any food restrictions or allergies your student may have so I can plan accordingly!​

Book It! 

During this trimester, Book It! will be reading “I Survived: The Sinking of the Titanic, 1912.” We will explore this important historical event, and have fun with corresponding STEM activities along the way!

Secondary (6th Grade - 10th Grade) 

Block 1 

Creative Writing

Some homework may be assigned.

Creative writing enrichment will be offered to hone your students’ skills in capturing the imaginative and creative stories they have and bringing them to life on paper. Through hearing and practicing poetry, essays, and short stories in class your student will better understand how to harness their big ideas and learn the art of bringing their unique perspective into the world with thoughtfulness and care!

Financial Peace University

Some homework may be assigned.

This class will focus on the power of using money as a tool for personal growth and empowerment. Subject areas include, but are not limited to: Saving & Budgeting - Credit & Debt - Education, Careers, & Entrepreneurship. The material will be delivered through humor and real-life stories to educate and reinforce sound principles for managing money.

Leadership

Some homework may be assigned.

Our leadership enrichment course is designed to develop and improve the leadership skills each person possesses. From goal setting to team building, personal relations to problem solving, students will be challenged to grow. Successful students will come to class ready to contribute, eager to learn and planning to have fun! 

PE 

Come join us for some fun through movement! This class will focus on learning essential body management skills, developing teamwork, cooperation and sportsmanship all while promoting physical fitness as fun.

Block 2

Art

During this trimester of Art, students will learn the application of principles of design including unity, balance, proportion, contrast, variety, emphasis, movement, rhythm and repetition.

Chapel Team

For students interested in developing their leadership during our elementary chapel service. Students will be able to develop their hosting skills on the stage during game time, participate in leading the kids through worship dance moves, learn technical programming in our sound booth, and small lead small groups.

*Chapel Team will not have mid-morning break

Intro to Weight Lifting *8th-10th grades only*

Let’s get pumped! In this class we’ll learn the basics of weightlifting, we will lift weights and use body resistance exercises to strengthen and tone muscle, focusing on safety and form for long term success.
